Uzodimma to Lead Lagos Country Club Dialogue on Grassroots Economic Development

Governor Hope Uzodimma

LAGOS/Nigeria: Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, is expected to lead discussions on economic decentralisation and community-driven development at the maiden edition of the Lagos Country Club Policy Dialogue with Government Leaders scheduled for November 13, 2026.

The event, according to the Club’s Secretary-General, Mrs Damilola Ikpe, will provide a platform for government officials, business executives and policy experts to examine how local economies can become stronger drivers of inclusive national development.

Ikpe disclosed this in a statement issued in Lagos, announcing that the programme would be held under the theme, “The Future is Local: Stimulating Grassroots Economies for Inclusive Growth.”

She said Uzodimma would deliver the keynote address as Special Guest Speaker, focusing on sub-national economic development, enterprise creation and strategies for expanding economic opportunities at the community level.

The governor is also expected to share perspectives on how states can strengthen their productive capacity and create an enabling environment for businesses to contribute more effectively to sustainable economic growth.

According to the Club, the policy dialogue is conceived as a high-level engagement platform to encourage meaningful exchanges between public-sector leaders and private-sector stakeholders on issues affecting Nigeria’s economic development.

President of the Lagos Country Club, Mr Seyi Adewunmi, said the initiative was intended to promote practical conversations that could translate policy ideas into actionable solutions to the country’s socio-economic challenges.

He noted that stronger engagement between government and the private sector was important in identifying opportunities, addressing development constraints and encouraging investment at the grassroots.

The maiden edition is expected to attract policymakers, captains of industry, business executives, professionals, academics and other stakeholders interested in economic policy and national development.
