The youths of Ndokwa/Ukwuani has been asked not to sell empowerment packages given to them by the government or her agencies.
The commissioner representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani at the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Sir Kenny Okolugbo made the call recently when 14 beneficiaries of the state government empowerment programme were receiving some tricycles giving by the commission.

He said, while speaking to the recipients in Obiaruku, Ukwuani LGA, that the commission frowns at acts of recklessness whereby empowerment equipment’s are sold out by beneficiaries, he concluded that after the incubation period of one year, when change of ownership is to be formally implemented that is when those who committed such acts will realise the mistake made.

While thanking the governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan for his supports to the commission, “he pointed out that the commission find it much better to give out packages like tricycles for a more better empowerment program which will add to a better economic development of the people and the society as in the case where the transport situation between Obiaruku and Abraka is now improved, with the added value to the economic and human capital development of the area, rather than to give out cash to individuals which may be used to pay off some bills and the recipients will continue to leave a life of begging”. He added.
The empowerment programme which was held at a low key was witnessed by some of his aids and party members.
Reacting to the gifts, one of the beneficiaries, Mr Monday Egwuali who is the chairman of Okada and Tricycles Association of Nigeria, Ukwuani Chapter, thanked the government of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and the commission for the continuous efforts to empower the people of Delta State.
With the 14 tricycles, the commission had given a total of 114 tricycles to the people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani within the past two years by the commission under the leadership of Sir Kenny Okolugbo.
