PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New PDP, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has expressed condolences to former Rivers State Governor and ADC vice-presidential candidate, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, following the death of his mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi.
Mrs. Amaechi, who died at the age of 89, was described by Eze as a woman whose life reflected humility, faith and unwavering commitment to family and community.
In a condolence message issued on Friday, Eze said the late matriarch’s death was a painful loss to the Amaechi family and to all who came in contact with her during her lifetime.
He noted that beyond raising one of Nigeria’s prominent political figures, Mrs. Amaechi was remembered for her strong Christian values, compassion and quiet influence on those around her.
According to him, the discipline, resilience and commitment to public service associated with the former Minister of Transportation were rooted in the values instilled by his mother.
“Mama Mary Amaechi lived a long and purposeful life. She was a source of strength and moral guidance whose legacy will continue to inspire generations,” Eze said.
The ADC chieftain urged Amaechi, his wife, Dame Judith Amaechi, their children and the entire family to take solace in the impactful life the deceased lived, describing her passing as the end of a remarkable journey marked by service to God and humanity.
He also extended his sympathies to the people of Ubima, the Ikwerre ethnic nationality, friends and political associates of the Amaechi family, praying for strength for all those grieving the loss.
Eze prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Mrs. Amaechi’s soul and for divine comfort for her family.
Mrs. Mary Amaechi’s death has drawn tributes from political associates, friends and admirers of the former Rivers State governor, many of whom have described her as a devoted mother whose influence extended beyond her immediate family.
