PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: The Albert Badey Centre for Development (ABCD) has strengthened its governance structure with the appointment of Chief ThankGod Adoage T. Norteh to its Board of Trustees, ahead of its official launch slated for April 25, 2026.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by Ibelema Green, who noted that the appointment expands the board’s membership from 12 to 13.

Norteh, a chartered accountant and former Chairman of the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service, brings a wealth of experience in fiscal administration and institutional leadership. He also previously served as National Vice President of the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

According to the Centre, his inclusion on the board is expected to bolster its capacity in public financial management, fiscal governance, and institutional reform—key pillars of its mandate.

The Board of Trustees is chaired by former Minister, Benneth Birabi, and includes notable figures such as Andrew Uchendu, Prof. Alexis Monsi, Mr John Pascal Nalley, and Mr Michael Aloega. Other members are Otunba Segun Owoeye, Engr. Gabriel Deage, Tombari Badey, Gogobari Badey, Dr Mrs Sirah Badey-Igbedion, Mrs Tonta Badey-Linden, and the founder, Mr Suage Badey.

The statement further explained that the Centre is established to promote good governance, leadership, and effective policy implementation through research, training, and advisory services.

It added that ABCD will operate through the Gabriel Toby and Albert Badey Institute of Public Administration, positioning itself as a hub for policy innovation and capacity building.

Activities marking the launch will include an inaugural lecture to be delivered by Emmanuel Denenu, while former Deputy Governor, Gabriel Toby, is expected to chair the event.
