Amaechi’s ADC Presidential Bid Signals Strong Alternative Ahead of 2027 — Eze

Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi

PORT HARRCOURT/Nigeria: A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has described the decision of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to purchase the presidential nomination form of the ADC as a major boost to the growing national relevance of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Chief Eze, in a statement made available to journalists, said Amaechi’s entry into the presidential race has injected renewed confidence, credibility and momentum into the ADC, positioning the party as a formidable political alternative in Nigeria’s evolving democratic space.

The ADC chieftain, who is also a media consultant and public relations strategist, noted that Amaechi’s political pedigree, administrative experience and national visibility place him in a strong position to provide leadership at a critical time in Nigeria’s political history.

According to Eze, Amaechi’s decision to seek the ADC presidential ticket represents more than personal political ambition, describing it as a strong endorsement of the party’s ideology, structure and readiness to compete effectively in the 2027 elections.

He maintained that the former Rivers State governor’s participation in the race would likely attract more progressives, technocrats, youths and Nigerians seeking credible leadership and an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Eze further stated that Amaechi’s political influence, particularly in the South-South region and other strategic parts of the country, would significantly strengthen the ADC’s organizational base and electoral prospects ahead of the polls.

“Indeed, the purchase of the ADC presidential form by Amaechi is more than a routine political development; it is a bold statement that the party is ready to play a decisive role in shaping Nigeria’s democratic future,” he stated.

The former nPDP spokesman also reeled out what he described as the remarkable achievements recorded during Amaechi’s tenure as Governor of Rivers State between 2007 and 2015.

Among the projects highlighted were the construction and furnishing of over 160 model primary healthcare centres, 350 model primary schools and 24 model secondary schools across the state.

Eze noted that Amaechi’s administration also introduced free and compulsory education policies, established modern educational facilities with ICT centres, libraries and sporting infrastructure, and expanded access to healthcare services across Rivers State.

He further listed the establishment of the Songhai Farm project, oil palm estates, banana plantations, Buguma Fish Farm and various youth and women empowerment initiatives as part of the legacies of the former governor.

The ADC stalwart also referenced major infrastructure projects initiated under Amaechi’s administration, including the Greater Port Harcourt City Project, the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, independent power initiatives and the Rivers State Monorail project, which he described as the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Eze argued that Amaechi’s record in office demonstrates his capacity to provide impactful leadership if elected president in 2027.

“The list of projects executed under the administration of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi remains inexhaustible, and surely Nigeria will feel his impact when he resumes office in May 2027,” he said.

Political analysts say Amaechi’s entrance into the ADC presidential race could reshape opposition politics ahead of the 2027 elections, especially as political realignments continue to gather momentum across the country.
