The traditional leader of the Arewa community,Sariki,Alhaji Ibrahim Gero has called on Muslims to use this breaking of fast as a means of promoting peace and unity in the country, the Sariki made this call at his palace in cable point Asaba recently.
While briefing newsmen, the Sariki secretary, who spoke on behalf of the traditional leader noted that the Muslims have been observing Eid-Filtre for more than one thousand years, and faithful’s have learnt to forgive one another for it is the most message of Allah, adding that the Muslims that are residing in Delta state have not gotten crises from the host community and the government, the Asagba in council have been good with the Arewa people and they are benefitting from the administration of Dr.Uduaghan.
The Sariki mentioned that they have been sensitizing their youths on the need to be law abiding citizens.
In the same vein, Alhaji Awali Tukur noted that their people have been residing at Asaba for more than hundred and fifty years now before the coming of the Europeans, adding that an Hausa man is a peaceful man any where he lives, its of recent that suicide bombing become popular,moslems are still wondering what may have triggered such violence gesture of the extremist, the Quran stated clearly that he who kills shall be killed, it is only God that will save Nigeria, Nigeria belongs to all of us, the insurgency is taking Nigeria backward, we don’t want crises or war, he noted.
He urged the Muslims in Delta state to support the government so that democratic dividends will come to their doorstep, that will bring empowerment,& development to the people, stressing that the governor is doing good and will finish strong, he advised the Arewa’s intending to go on pilgrimage that if they pass through the screening then they will be eligible to travel to mecca, he appeals to government to sponsor pilgrims and people who have gone before should allow fresher’s to go so as to let the government gesture go round.
