ASABA/Nigeria: The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has acknowledged the impact of the state’s investments in security infrastructure and logistics, saying the support has strengthened policing operations and improved the command’s capacity to tackle crime.
Oyeniyi made the remarks in Asaba while receiving the Chairman of the Delta State Security Trust Fund (DSSTF), Hon. Barr. Daniel Mayuku, who led members of the Board and management, including the Executive Secretary, Hon. Barr. Samuel Osasa, on a courtesy visit to the State Police Command Headquarters.
The police commissioner said the support provided by the Delta State Government through the Security Trust Fund had enhanced the operational efficiency of the command, particularly in intelligence gathering, investigations and crime prevention.
According to him, the Inspector-General of Police had also acknowledged the state’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement through investments in security infrastructure, logistics and operational support.
Oyeniyi identified the establishment of a modern interrogation room and a digital data centre at the Command Headquarters as some of the interventions that have improved investigative capacity and coordinated policing in the state.
He said the facilities have equipped the command to respond more effectively to emerging security challenges while enhancing professionalism in service delivery.
The commissioner, however, appealed for sustained support in the maintenance of operational vehicles, provision of modern technological equipment and expansion of community policing initiatives.
He also called for greater investment in digital communication platforms to improve intelligence sharing, public engagement and collaboration between residents and security agencies.
Speaking during the visit, Chairman of the Delta State Security Trust Fund, Hon. Barr. Daniel Mayuku, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting security agencies through the provision of infrastructure, logistics and other operational requirements.
Mayuku said the Trust Fund would continue to complement the efforts of security agencies by providing resources needed to enhance their effectiveness in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Fund, Hon. Barr. Samuel Osasa, said the Board remained committed to initiatives aimed at strengthening security infrastructure and supporting innovative policing strategies.
He noted that continued collaboration between the Trust Fund and security agencies would contribute to improved public safety, economic growth and a more secure environment for residents.
The visit ended with both the Delta State Police Command and the Delta State Security Trust Fund reaffirming their commitment to closer cooperation in addressing security challenges and sustaining peace across Delta State.
