Delta State House of Assembly Speaker Commends Success of 2024 Amaseikumor Festival

ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has extended his heartfelt appreciation to everyone who attended the grand finale of the 2024 annual Amaseikumor festival in Oporoza. This festival, according to Guwor, not only celebrates the tradition and culture of the people but also their achievements and accomplishments.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker expressed his gratitude for the impressive turnout of dignitaries, despite the distance to the coastal community. He remarked that the caliber of personalities in attendance was remarkable and thanked God for the festival’s successful hosting, noting that attendees left with positive testimonies.

Guwor congratulated HRM Oboro Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, and other leaders for their contributions to the festival’s success. He prayed for greater peace and development in the locality, emphasizing the kingdom’s commitment to peace, security, unity, and understanding.

Dignitaries from various spheres of life flocked to the ancient town of Oporoza, Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West local government area of Delta State, to witness the grand finale of the week-long annual Gbaran-Egbesu Ibolomobo-ere and Amaseikumor festival. Despite initial apprehensions, especially after a recent unfortunate incident in the Nollywood industry, visitors were delighted by the highly decorated serene riverine environment and the rich cultural heritage on display.

Prominent traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR, graced the occasion, alongside the Pere of Gbaramatu kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II, and High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo). Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, representing Delta State, was instrumental in coordinating government functionaries, colleagues, and friends for the event.

The festival featured various displays of arts and crafts, traditional warlike competitions, masquerade dances, and musical performances. Attendees praised the unique display of culture and heritage by the Ijaws of Gbaramatu kingdom, expressing admiration for the organizers’ efforts in providing such a memorable experience.

Overall, the 2024 Amaseikumor festival was a resounding success, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry and vibrant traditions of the Gbaramatu kingdom while fostering unity and understanding among its people.
