AGBOR/Nigeria: Residents of Alibioba Community in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, have attributed their decision to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s re-election bid in 2027 to infrastructure projects they say have improved living conditions in the area.
The endorsement, announced by the community’s landlords and residents during their bi-weekly meeting, reflects what members described as appreciation for government interventions, particularly efforts to address flooding and ongoing road infrastructure projects.
Chairman of the Alibioba Landlords Association, Mr. Anthony Osafiele, said the community had begun encouraging eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the next general election.
According to him, the association’s decision was influenced by projects that residents believe have brought tangible benefits to the community, including measures that addressed persistent flooding which had threatened homes in the area for years.
He also cited the ongoing Uromi Junction Flyover project as one of the major developments residents consider significant to the growth of the community.
“Our decision is based on what we have seen. The projects undertaken by the government have had a positive impact on our community, and we believe such efforts deserve recognition,” Osafiele said.
The association said members resolved to support the governor in the next governorship election, describing the decision as a reflection of their assessment of his administration’s performance rather than political party considerations.
Members also passed a vote of confidence in the governor during the meeting.
Political consultations and public endorsements have gradually begun to emerge in parts of Delta State ahead of the 2027 governorship election, although the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has yet to commence the formal electoral timetable and campaign period.
