PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has charged newly appointed Special Advisers to work as a team and remain firmly committed to the vision of his administration in order to deliver effective, people-centred governance in the state.
The governor gave the charge on Friday, January 2, 2025, at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, after administering the oath of office to the five advisers.
Those sworn in are Eloka Tasie-Amadi, Peter Medee, Emmanuel Frank Fubara, Victor Ekaro and Darlington Orji.
Governor Fubara said the appointments were made to further strengthen teamwork within government and ensure that the machinery of governance continues to function efficiently.
“So what we are doing this afternoon is bringing in some persons on board to ensure that the wheels of governance continue to roll smoothly in our state,” the governor said.
He explained that the advisers were carefully selected because they were not new to the system and had previously worked with him in different capacities, making them conversant with the philosophy and direction of his administration.
“I believe these appointees understand the vision of this administration, and it will not be difficult for them to align and ensure that our goals are achieved,” Fubara stated.
The governor stressed that governance was about hard work and collective responsibility, warning against complacency and reminding the advisers that their appointments were not ceremonial.
“This is not about pleasure; it is work. Our social agreement with the people of Rivers State is to work, and that is exactly what we have come to do,” he said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to purposeful leadership and effective service delivery, expressing confidence that the new advisers would work together to translate government policies into tangible benefits for the people of Rivers State.
