ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, on Saturday joined family members, lawmakers and other guests at the traditional marriage ceremony of Barr. Ogochukwu Esenwah, daughter of the member representing Oshimili North Constituency, Hon. Frank Esenwah.
The Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, disclosed this in a goodwill message from Guwor on the occasion, which brought together guests from Delta State and Anambra State.
Ogochukwu was traditionally joined with Chukwuma Okwunulu at a ceremony that brought together the cultural traditions of Nnewi in Anambra State and Illah in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Guwor, who attended the ceremony with his wife, Temiebi, congratulated both families and described marriage as a sacred institution requiring commitment, patience and mutual understanding.
He urged the newly married couple to build their home around love, respect and the fear of God, while supporting each other through the different stages of their lives.
The Speaker also congratulated Hon. Esenwah and his family, as well as the Okwunulu family, praying that the union would bring peace, prosperity and lasting happiness to both families.
He said marriages that bring together families from different states could also strengthen social and cultural ties while providing an opportunity for communities to celebrate their shared heritage.
The ceremony attracted government officials, members of the Delta State House of Assembly and their spouses, political and community leaders, families, friends and other well-wishers.
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, was represented at the ceremony by the Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije, while the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Chris Osakwe.
The traditional rites were conducted amid music, dancing and other cultural displays, reflecting the traditions of the Nnewi and Illah communities.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for members of the two families and their guests to celebrate the couple’s union and the cultural ties connecting their communities.
