Ibegbelum Reflects on Okowa’s Public Service Journey at 67

ASABA/Nigeria: As former Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, celebrates his 67th birthday, his former Principal Secretary, Dr. Hilary Ibegbelum, reflected on a public service career he described as one defined by visionary leadership, administrative excellence and an enduring commitment to the development of Delta State and Nigeria.

In a goodwill message marking the occasion, Ibegbelum said Okowa’s political journey offers an enduring example of dedicated service, having risen through various strategic positions in government before serving two terms as governor of Delta State.

He recalled the former governor’s early years in public administration as Secretary of the defunct Ika Local Government Council and later as the pioneer Chairman of Ika North-East Local Government Council, noting that those roles laid the foundation for a career built on grassroots development and effective leadership.

According to him, Okowa also left his mark while serving as Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Commissioner for Water Resources Development and Commissioner for Health, where he demonstrated strong administrative capacity and a commitment to improving the lives of the people.

Ibegbelum further highlighted the former governor’s service as Secretary to the Delta State Government, Senator of the Federal Republic and Governor of Delta State, describing each stage of his career as a reflection of experience, resilience and dedication to public service.

He said Okowa’s emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Delta North Senatorial District marks another chapter in a political career that has continued to attract public attention and support.

The former Principal Secretary described Okowa as a leader whose humility, courage and commitment to service have continued to inspire colleagues, political associates and younger generations aspiring to public office.

Congratulating the former governor on his birthday, Ibegbelum prayed for God’s continued guidance, sound health, wisdom and renewed strength, expressing confidence that the years ahead would bring greater accomplishments and continued service to humanity.
