Iyovwaye Pitches Industrialisation, Jobs at NDC Stakeholder Meeting in Agbor

Delta NDC governorship candidate, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, addresses supporters during a political engagement in Agbor as part of the party’s consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

AGBOR/Nigeria: The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has made industrialisation, job creation and improved management of public resources central to its campaign message in Delta State, following a consultation with businessman Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu, popularly associated with Benco Pools, and his grassroots movement in Agbor.

The meeting, held as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, brought together the party’s Delta State governorship candidate, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, and other candidates seeking elective offices across Delta North.

The delegation included the NDC’s Delta North senatorial candidate, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei; Ika Federal Constituency candidate, Engr. Emmanuel Leonard Nwachukwu, popularly known as Bawo; Ika North-East Constituency I candidate, Engr. Sylvester Chukwuedo; and Ika South Constituency candidate, Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh. The party’s Delta North Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Aaron Udoka Ebenuwa, also participated in the engagement with other party leaders.

Addressing his host, Iyovwaye argued that Delta State needed a more productive economic model capable of converting its natural and financial resources into employment, investment and improved living standards.

He criticised what he characterised as the inadequate management of the state’s resources and a lack of innovative leadership, insisting that the state’s economic potential should translate into more tangible benefits for residents.

The governorship candidate identified industrialisation as a key component of the development direction his party intends to pursue if elected. He said practical policies, effective implementation and measurable outcomes would be necessary to expand economic opportunities and create sustainable employment.

Iyovwaye also expressed confidence in the capacity of the NDC’s candidates at the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives and state assembly levels, urging Chief Nwachukwu and members of his grassroots movement to support the party’s political platform.

He maintained that Delta State had the resources to achieve a higher level of economic development, arguing that leadership choices would be important in determining how effectively those resources were deployed.

Ochei, who is seeking to represent Delta North in the Senate, thanked Nwachukwu for receiving the delegation. He also recalled visiting the businessman shortly before the wider consultation, describing the developing relationship as one that could produce benefits beyond the political participants.

Other members of the delegation outlined their commitment to representation and development in their respective constituencies. Their contributions reinforced the campaign’s emphasis on engaging community figures and business stakeholders as it seeks to build support across Ika and the wider Delta North district.

The visit reflects the NDC campaign’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots contacts and present its economic priorities to influential community and business groups ahead of the next general election.

However, the industrialisation proposals outlined at the meeting remain campaign commitments. Their potential impact will depend on the details of the policies, funding arrangements, implementation plans and measurable targets that the party may subsequently present to voters.
