WARRI/Nigeria: Renowned Niger Delta environmentalist, rights activist and Ijaw leader, Chief Comrade Mulade Sheriff, PhD, has congratulated the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, on his election as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.
In a press statement issued in Warri and made available to journalists, Chief Mulade, who is the Ibe-Sorimowei of the ancient oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom, described Guwor’s emergence as well-deserved, noting that his unanimous election during the extraordinary session of the Conference held in Abuja on Monday reflected the high level of confidence his colleagues have in his leadership capacity.
He observed that Guwor’s return unopposed was a testament to his sterling qualities, proven integrity and remarkable track record of diligent service, particularly during his tenure as Treasurer of the Conference since 2023. According to Mulade, the Delta Speaker has consistently demonstrated maturity, administrative competence and a consensus-building approach to legislative leadership.
The Ijaw leader further stated that Guwor brings to his new assignment a wealth of experience garnered from years of legislative practice and effective stewardship of the Delta State House of Assembly. He also cited his sound financial management skills and ability to foster unity among lawmakers across political and regional divides as qualities that distinguish him among his peers.
Mulade expressed optimism that under Guwor’s chairmanship, the Conference of Speakers would witness renewed vigour, progressive policy engagement and strengthened advocacy for legislative independence and development-driven laws at the sub-national level.
He added that Guwor’s leadership offers an opportunity to deepen inter-legislative collaboration, promote institutional reforms and reinforce democratic governance across the states.
Chief Mulade wished the new Chairman a successful and impactful tenure, assuring him of the continued support and goodwill of stakeholders from Delta State and the wider Niger Delta region.
