ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has intensified preparations for its forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) following what members described as a successful and enriching outing at the recently concluded conference in Kaduna State.
The chapter, during its meeting in Asaba on Thursday, reviewed activities from the Kaduna conference while also outlining programmes and strategies aimed at strengthening professionalism and participation ahead of the state AGM and other national engagements.
Speaking during the meeting, the Secretary of the chapter, Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli, who presided over the meeting on behalf of the Chairman, Mr Godfrey Osakwe, Fnipr, commended members of the Delta delegation for their conduct and resilience throughout the Kaduna conference, despite challenges encountered during the trip.
He described the conference as impactful and memorable, noting that it provided participants with opportunities for professional interaction, learning and exposure through lectures, networking sessions and guided excursions.
According to him, delegates visited several historical and cultural sites in Kaduna, including the National Museum and the residence of Nigeria’s first Premier, where the late statesman was assassinated.
Mr. Enebeli also disclosed that participants toured a large agricultural facility during the conference, describing the experience as both educational and adventurous.
He added that although some of the journeys into remote communities came with certain challenges, members returned safely with valuable experiences that would contribute positively to their professional development.
As attention shifted toward the forthcoming AGM, members expressed optimism that the event would further strengthen collaboration and intellectual engagement among public relations practitioners in the state.
The Secretary of the AGM Committee, PC Esther Dominic, assured members that arrangements for the conference were progressing steadily, with committees already working on various aspects of the event.
She disclosed that the committee was already reaching out to eminent personalities and seasoned professionals expected to serve as keynote speakers and discussants during the conference.
Dominic noted that reports from sub-committees had so far been encouraging, reflecting the commitment of members toward ensuring a successful outing.
The meeting also featured discussions on professionalism, commitment and the need for members to actively participate in the activities of the institute.
Some members stressed the importance of discipline, continuous learning and dedication to the ethics of the public relations profession, insisting that membership of the institute should be reflected through visible contributions and active engagement.
There was also a strong call for practitioners to cultivate a stronger reading culture and remain committed to personal and professional development in order to enhance the image of the profession.
The atmosphere at the meeting reflected growing enthusiasm ahead of the AGM, as members reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Delta State chapter and promoting excellence in public relations practice.
