
OGUME/Nigeria: The Vice-Chancellor of Novena University, Ogume, Professor G.C. Nduka, has challenged newly inducted graduates of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct as they embark on careers in the nation’s healthcare sector.
Professor Nduka gave the charge on Monday during the University’s Second Induction Ceremony for graduates of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, describing the occasion as a defining moment in the professional journey of the inductees and another milestone in the institution’s commitment to producing globally competitive healthcare professionals.
Addressing the gathering, which included officials of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), parents, guardians, lecturers and other distinguished guests, the Vice-Chancellor said the induction represented more than a ceremonial rite of passage, noting that it marked the formal admission of the graduates into one of the most critical professions in modern healthcare.
He congratulated the inductees on successfully completing the demanding academic and professional requirements of the programme, describing their achievement as a reflection of resilience, discipline, hard work and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Professor Nduka reminded the new medical laboratory scientists that the profession carries enormous responsibility, as the accuracy of laboratory investigations often determines the quality of diagnosis, treatment and overall patient care.

“As scientists, you must see clearly what you observe, report only what you have established and remain committed to quality healthcare delivery for the benefit of humanity,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor further advised the newly inducted professionals to embrace lifelong learning and continuous professional development in order to remain relevant in an evolving healthcare environment driven by scientific innovation and technological advancement.
He noted that excellence in medical laboratory practice remains indispensable to effective disease diagnosis, evidence-based treatment and the overall improvement of healthcare delivery, urging the graduates to remain faithful to the ethical principles governing their profession throughout their careers.
