LAGOS/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has described literature as a timeless force for shaping national values and strengthening the intellectual foundation of society, saying his administration will continue to champion initiatives that promote learning, creativity, and public scholarship.
Represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, the governor spoke at the public presentation of Hallmarks of Labour, a new book written by Izoma Philip Chikwuendo Asiodu, held at the Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Oborevwori said the state identifies strongly with platforms that celebrate distinguished contributions to national development, particularly through the written word, which he described as “one of the most enduring tools for preserving history and inspiring generations.”
Prof. Tonukari, delivering the governor’s remarks, commended Asiodu for his remarkable contribution to Nigerian literature and governance. He noted that Hallmarks of Labour reflects the virtues of dedication, hard work, and integrity, and urged emerging writers to uphold these values as they hone their craft.
The event, chaired by former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd.), drew eminent personalities and literary enthusiasts. Speakers at the ceremony examined the themes of the book and celebrated Asiodu’s lifelong commitment to service and national progress.
Oborevwori assured that Delta State will remain a strong supporter of initiatives that enrich the country’s intellectual landscape and honour those who advance knowledge through exemplary public service.
