
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated media entrepreneur and Chairman of THISDAY Newspapers and ARISE News, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, on his 67th birthday, acknowledging his contributions to the growth of journalism and media development in Nigeria.
The governor’s message was conveyed in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon.
According to the statement, Oborevwori described Obaigbena as one of Nigeria’s leading media entrepreneurs whose investments in newspaper publishing and broadcast journalism have influenced public discourse and strengthened the country’s media landscape over the years.
The governor noted that through THISDAY Newspapers and ARISE News, the Delta-born publisher has built media platforms that continue to shape conversations on governance, business and national development while expanding Nigeria’s presence in international broadcasting.
He also acknowledged Obaigbena’s contributions to the newspaper industry during his tenure as President of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN), where he was credited with promoting press freedom, professionalism and the growth of the media sector.
Oborevwori said the media executive’s achievements have earned him recognition both within and outside Nigeria, describing his career as an inspiration to aspiring journalists and media entrepreneurs.
On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, the governor congratulated Obaigbena on the milestone and commended his role in advancing journalism and media enterprise.
He prayed for good health, strength and many more years of productive service to the media profession and the nation.
