Oboro Backs Dafinone’s 2027 Bid, Says Delta Central Needs Strong Federal Connection

Former House of Representatives member, Rt. Hon. Evelyn Oboro, receives Senator Ede Dafinone during his consultation visit ahead of the 2027 elections, as the Delta Central senator seeks her support for his re-election bid.

EFFURUN/Nigeria: Former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Evelyn Oboro, has thrown her weight behind Senator Ede Dafinone’s bid for a second term, urging voters in Delta Central Senatorial District to consider the benefits of having their representative aligned with the party controlling the Federal Government.

Oboro made the call on Saturday, October 3, 2026, when Dafinone visited her residence during his consultations with political leaders and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former federal lawmaker formally pledged her support for the senator’s re-election and called on her political associates across the eight local government areas of Delta Central to mobilise support for Dafinone and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The eight local government areas are Ethiope East, Ethiope West, Okpe, Sapele, Udu, Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Uvwie.

Oboro argued that Delta Central could derive greater political and developmental benefits from maintaining a connection with the Federal Government through elected representatives belonging to the governing party.

She said the consideration, in her view, was particularly important in the pursuit of federal projects, infrastructure and other development opportunities for the senatorial district.

The former lawmaker urged voters to place what she described as the collective interest of Delta Central and the Urhobo people above narrower political considerations when making their choices in 2027.

Dafinone, who represents the district in the Senate, had visited Oboro as part of his ongoing stakeholder engagement ahead of the election.

During the meeting, he sought her endorsement for his second-term ambition and called for greater cooperation among APC leaders and supporters across Delta Central.

The engagement is part of the senator’s wider consultations with political stakeholders as parties and aspirants begin intensifying preparations for the 2027 elections.

Oboro has remained active in APC political activities in Delta State. She participated in an APC women’s unity meeting in Delta Central in 2025 where President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori were endorsed as the party’s candidates for the 2027 elections.

Her political involvement has also included activities around the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency. In May 2026, reports indicated that she withdrew from the APC House of Representatives primary after consultations with party leaders, saying the decision was intended to preserve unity and advance the interests of the constituency.

Dafinone’s consultations come as political realignments continue to shape preparations for the 2027 elections in Delta State, with APC leaders and supporters increasingly focusing on grassroots mobilisation across the senatorial district.
