AKUMAZI/Nigeria: Former Delta State Governor and Delta North senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has urged residents of Ika North-East Local Government Area to convert their support for the party into votes in the 2027 general elections.
Okowa made the call during an empowerment programme organised by councillors in Akumazi, where 400 residents received financial assistance of ₦50,000 each.
He said the turnout at the event was an indication of the level of acceptance of the APC among residents, urging party supporters to remain committed to the party as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
The former governor congratulated the beneficiaries and advised them to deploy the financial support towards activities that could strengthen their livelihoods.
Okowa also commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for appointing Charles Aniagwu, an indigene of Akumazi, as Commissioner for Works, Rural Roads and Public Information.
He described the appointment as an indication of the recognition given to the area and its contribution to the development of Delta State.
Speaking at the event, Aniagwu drew attention to development projects executed by the state government in Ika North-East, noting that Akumazi had benefited from the administration’s development efforts.
He urged residents to reciprocate the government’s interventions by supporting the APC and its candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The APC chairman in Ika North-East, Emeke Asiwe, said the empowerment initiative was organised by councillors across the 14 wards of the local government as part of efforts to provide assistance to constituents.
Asiwe assured residents that additional empowerment initiatives would be rolled out before the end of the year.
The programme also featured the presentation of the ₦50,000 grants to the 400 beneficiaries and the introduction of APC candidates to the people as the party intensifies its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
