UBULU UKU/Nigeria: The Onishe of Ubulu-Uku, High Chief James Asika Onwordi, popularly known as Ibori Ubulu, has expressed confidence in the prospects of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta North Senatorial primary election, declaring that the contest would be decisively settled in the former governor’s favour before midday on election day.
The respected traditional and political leader made the declaration while addressing APC faithful, party leaders, and supporters during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ubulu-Uku, where he said the growing wave of support for Dr. Okowa across the nine local government areas of Delta North reflected the people’s confidence in his leadership and political experience.
According to Onwordi, Dr. Okowa’s years of public service, grassroots connection, and contributions to the development of the Anioma nation have continued to strengthen his acceptability across the senatorial district.
He noted that the former governor’s record in governance, empowerment initiatives, and political leadership distinguished him among other aspirants vying for the APC senatorial ticket.
“Dr. Okowa has maintained strong relationships with the people over the years. He understands the needs of Delta North and has consistently demonstrated capacity, leadership, and commitment to the development of our people. The support he enjoys today is organic and widespread,” he stated.
The Onishe further maintained that the political structure and support already established in the district would make the outcome of the primary evident within the early hours of the exercise.
“By before 12 noon on the day of the primary, everyone will already know the direction of the election. The people have made up their minds, and they are solidly behind Dr. Okowa,” he added.
High Chief Onwordi also urged APC members, delegates, and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the primary process, stressing the importance of unity and internal democracy in strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
He called on all aspirants participating in the contest to embrace sportsmanship and place the collective interest of Anioma above individual ambitions and political differences.
According to him, the APC in Delta North must emerge from the exercise more united and better positioned for future political engagements irrespective of the eventual outcome.
As political activities continue to gather momentum in the district, political observers believe endorsements and public declarations from influential stakeholders such as the Onishe of Ubulu-Uku could shape conversations ahead of the APC senatorial primary.
For many supporters present at the meeting, the message was clear — the contest, in their view, extends beyond securing a party ticket and centres on rallying behind a candidate they believe possesses the experience, political structure, and goodwill to represent Delta North effectively at the national level.
