ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command has ramped up efforts to secure the safe release of the abducted Local Government Chairman in Sapele, as the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, undertook a high-level operational visit to the area, signaling renewed urgency in ongoing rescue operations.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the Command said the CP’s visit was part of a coordinated and strategic response to the incident, with a focus on strengthening intelligence gathering and accelerating efforts to track down the perpetrators.
During the visit, CP Oyeniyi conducted on-the-spot assessments of key locations linked to the abduction, including Debro Fred Guest House, where the incident occurred, to gain first-hand insight into the circumstances surrounding the crime.
He also proceeded to Ogorode Waterside, where the vehicle allegedly used by the abductors was recovered, a development expected to aid forensic analysis and guide further intelligence operations.
In a show of empathy and reassurance, the CP visited the wife of the abducted chairman, assuring her and the family that the command is committed to securing his safe and unharmed release.
He equally visited hospitals where victims injured during the attack are receiving treatment, pledging continued support and underscoring the command’s concern for their welfare.
The Police Commissioner emphasized that the command, working in synergy with other security agencies, has deployed adequate resources and is acting on credible intelligence to apprehend those responsible and rescue the victim.
He called on residents of Sapele and the wider Delta State to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by providing timely and credible information, noting that public collaboration is critical to the success of the operation.
The Delta State Police Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring that decisive actions will continue until the perpetrators are brought to justice and the abducted official is safely reunited with his family.
