Chief (Sir) Eric Ogbodokwu Anigala
The immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta North, Chief (Sir) Eric Ogbodokwu Anigala, has stated and decreed the way the primaries in the PDP was carried out, as am undemocratic, as majority of the selected delegate were imposed on the party to favour some candidates.
The party chieftain stated this while speaking to Ndokwa Reporters on his ambition to represent the Ndokwa-Ukwuani federal constituency at the federal House of Representatives, on the platform of the Accord Party.
According to Chief Anigala, the committee that was set up to select the advoc delegates was set up from above who now picked the delegates, without election, and this made it very difficult for those aspirants who do not have supporters from the delegates.
Speaking further, he said that the committee worked against him by putting those who will only be favourable to their own person. “I saw this as against my mission to contest the election”, he said this was enough for me to step down.
Acceptability in Ndokwa/Ukwuami federal constituency.
As a person, I schooled in mater Dei in Ashaka, worked there, In Ndokwa East, I am also from Abbi in Ndokwa west, and as a child my father worked as a court clerk, and we were moving from place to place. And again I reside here in Owa-Abbi, Ukwuani L.G.A, were I was the first executive chairman of the council. So, with this I have transferred the Ndokwa Nation as a person and a leader. I have a lot of fellowship across Ndokwa.
Why Accord Party?
One, I don’t have anything against the Peoples Democratic Party, especially the presidential candidate, but I am not happy with the representation at the House of Representatives.
I felt my people most be well represented, and I felt I will represent my people better than what we have now
What Will You Be Bringing to The Ndokwa Nation, If Elected?
Representative means telling the government what your people wants, and bringing back the report to your people. And that is what I am going to do. When I come back, I will call for meeting to brief them. And for that to work well there will be a functional secretariat at the 3 L.G.A, where people can go to learn what is happening at the government level.
Also, there will always be town hall meetings, local government by local government, where the need of the people will be discussed to know exactly what they want. For example, I don’t feel that projects should be duplicated in one community, rather, the one there should be made to function, example is where bore-wholes are repeated in one community year in year out, without making the ones already there to function properly, and in some, other communities no such project.
I will develop a database, to know the need of the people, and what and what is already in the communities; there must be synergy between my office, the L.G.A and communities.
On our political representation and the position of the NNU:
The Ndokwa-Neku Union (NNU) has this right to express their mind on issues, in democracy there is freedom of speech, the people concerned will react, but one thing is that the stand of the NNU will have some impact on this election, it cannot be wished away though majority of the electorate are not well exposed to understand the happenings with regard to the position of NNU, but it is going to be an election issue. Because if an apex body of the Ndokwa People is saying this people had not performed well, I think that is enough indictment.
If you are in a position, and you are doing well, people speak for you, and you can boast of what you did.
Take for instance, as chairman of Ukwuani LGA, I did a lot. The present local government secretariat was built during my time, even with very small money.
I brought the tax office thus reducing the pain of our going to Kwale, and many more things, my achievements will speak for me.
The people of Ukwuani should vote for me. They should look at our individual achievement and contributions and vote, not the party but the candidate. The people should vote by conscience not by money.
