OLEH/Nigeria: In a bid to promote peace, unity, and development across Isoko kingdoms, the Isoko Development Union (IDU), the apex umbrella body of Isoko Nation, along with the Traditional Rulers Council of Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, have called on the Isoko South Local Government Area Council Chairman, Hon. Victor Asasa, to expedite the recommendation process for the new Odio-logbo of Irri Kingdom to the Delta State government for official installation and inauguration. The designated Odio-logbo is Simeon Wajutome Odhomo.
This decision was reached during a meeting held at the Isoko Development Union (IDU) Secretariat situated at Oleh/Ozoro junction over the weekend, the leadership of the Isoko Development Union and the Council of Traditional Rulers acknowledged the ascending and enthronement process for the leadership. They unanimously upheld Odio Simeon Wajutome Odhomo as the chosen candidate who has fulfilled all requirements for ascending the throne of Odio-logbo of Irri Kingdom, in accordance with the provisions of the gazette.
According to the IDU and the Council of Traditional Rulers, Odio Simeon Odhomo has fulfilled the customary law and tradition of the lrri Kingdom, making him a recognized and bonafide descendant of the nine ruling houses originally known as the Igbogidi ruling house.
The succession process, which is historically stipulated in the gazette declaration made under section (8) of the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Edict of 1979, governs the customary law regulating the title of Odio-logbo of Irri Clan in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
A nine-member committee was constituted to oversee the succession processes to the throne, with Chief Oroboha T. M. (JP) as the chairman and Mr. Igoh Augustine as the secretary.
Odio Simeon Wajutome Odhomo is a member of one of the ruling houses, including Odede family, Erue family, Uthoakpo family, Amathovo family, and Okpoto family.
In an enlarged meeting of the entire family of Irri Federal Kingdom Union held at Irri Town Hall, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State over the weekend, palace chiefs, Edios, council sons, daughters, and heads of clans unanimously supported Odio Simeon Wajutome Odhomo as the designated Odio-logbo of Irri Kingdom. The decision reached during the previous meeting held at Uro Town Hall of Isoko South was reaffirmed and considered sacrosanct in the history of the kingdom.
The participants also emphasized the importance of peace, unity, and progress in the entire clan, praying for God’s blessings upon the kingdom and the reign of the new Odio-logbo, hoping for peace, long life, and development during his rule.
