Grooming Center Renews MoU and Boosts Support for IDPs in Nigeria with 20.740 Million Naira Donation

LAGOS/Nigeria: In a bid to fortify its commitment towards uplifting the lives of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria, Grooming People for Better Livelihood Center, popularly known as Grooming Center, has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sesor Empowerment Foundation. The renewal comes with a substantial donation of 20.740 million naira, marking an increase from last year’s contribution of N17 million.

The Executive Director of Sesor Empowerment Foundation, Ms Ier Jonathan-Ichaver, expressed her gratitude for the continued support from Grooming Center, particularly during these challenging times. She highlighted that the funds would play a pivotal role in bolstering Sesor Foundation’s relief, rehabilitation, and advocacy initiatives aimed at assisting displaced individuals in Benue and Lagos.

The allocation of funds includes provisions for essential relief efforts in Benue, the establishment of safe spaces for the well-being and health programs of IDPs, and the launch of entrepreneurship training, mentoring, and livelihood support for 200 displaced women in Lagos. Ms Jonathan-Ichaver underscored the significance of these interventions in empowering displaced persons to regain their financial independence and rebuild their lives with dignity intact.

The MoU signing ceremony took place at Grooming Center’s headquarters in Ikotun-Egbe, Lagos. Ms Jonathan-Ichaver lauded the steadfast commitment of Grooming Center to the cause, noting that this partnership has yielded additional support from other prominent brands such as Ice Cream Factory, Cornucopia, Unilever, and Cadbury.

“The partnership between Grooming Centre and Sesor demonstrates their shared desire to improve the lives of those who have been displaced,” Jonathan-Ichaver said. She emphasized that their collective efforts are aimed at creating a positive impact on the lives of IDPs in Nigeria, offering them the essential resources and support required to reconstruct their lives anew.

Dr. Godwin Nwabunka, the CEO of Grooming Center, stressed the enduring importance of this long-standing partnership. He praised Sesor Empowerment Foundation’s steadfast dedication since 2014 to assisting displaced individuals and expressed hope that the renewed collaboration would alleviate some of the challenges faced by the affected citizens. Dr. Nwabunka also looked forward to a future marked by enhanced security and a resolution to the multifaceted challenges that have led to the displacement of countless Nigerians.
