National Youth Alliance Backs Benue’s Ada Fredrick Okwori for PDP Women Leader

KADUNA/Nigeria: In a bold move towards reshaping the leadership landscape within the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Youth Alliance (NYA) has thrown its weight behind the candidacy of Benue native, Honourable Ada Fredrick Okwori, for the position of National Women Leader.

Describing it as a departure from tradition, NYA emphasized that Okwori’s candidacy represents a significant shift away from the trend of electing older women into the role.

In a statement released to the press in Kaduna on Monday, April 8, 2024, signed by SA Media to its National President, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, NYA lauded Okwori’s decision to enter the race, citing her youthfulness as a refreshing change in a position typically held by older women.

Ambassador Abbas expressed confidence in Okwori’s capabilities, stating, “I have known Ada both inside the PDP and outside for some years now, and I believe she will make an excellent Women Leader.”

The Alliance urged the PDP to seize the opportunity presented by Okwori’s candidacy to demonstrate its commitment to youth inclusion. Emphasizing the importance of engaging younger Nigerians, NYA called on the party to prioritize inclusivity in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.

They viewed Okwori’s potential election as a crucial step towards attracting more youth to the PDP fold, signaling to the nation that the party values and represents the interests of the younger generation.
