Government Committed to Student Healthcare and Hospital Upgrades Across Senatorial Districts – Govs Aide

ASABA/Nigeria: The Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Orientation Bureau, Dr. Latimore Oghenesivbe, has reiterated the government’s dedication to enhancing student healthcare services and upgrading facilities in government-owned hospitals across the three senatorial districts.

In a recent meeting with the executive members of the Delta State University Medical Students Association (DUMSA), led by President Mr. Gideon Kane Muemuifo, Dr. Oghenesivbe highlighted Governor Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises. He mentioned the commencement of multifaceted healthcare programs and the approval of over N3 billion for hospital equipment and infrastructure development.

Dr. Oghenesivbe also announced the commencement of the Tertiary Institutions Students Insurance Programme (TISIP) under the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), aimed at providing quality healthcare services to all Delta State students nationwide. He emphasized that the governor’s efforts in the health sector are yielding significant results.

Representing Dr. Oghenesivbe, Mrs. Kate Olika, the Director of Administration at the State Orientation Bureau, assured DUMSA of their readiness to collaborate in fighting drug abuse in tertiary institutions. She also pledged support for DUMSA’s “Doctors Beyond The Clinic” project, which aims to provide free eye screenings, medical tests, and drugs to patients during a one-week event.

Additionally, Dr. Oghenesivbe revealed plans for massive sensitization campaigns on drug abuse in partnership with the State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). He reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing student healthcare services and welfare.

Mr. Gideon Kane Muemuifo, President of DUMSA, expressed gratitude for the government’s support, highlighting the association’s efforts, including the development of an AI for medical research. He commended Governor Oborevwori for his commitment to youth development and appealed for support for their AI research efforts.

The meeting, attended by key figures from the Bureau including Mrs. Kate Olika, Mr. Ngozi Uwaje, Mrs. Judith Emeka-wemembu, Mr. Leslie Obiebi, and Mr. Omonigho Okotie, underscores the Bureau’s commitment to a drug-free and robust Delta State.
