628 Children of Deceased Civil Servants and Disabled Students to Benefit from Delta State Scholarship Scheme

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the payment of the 2023 scholarship for 628 children of deceased civil servants and students living with disabilities, as part of his administration’s commitment to inclusive education and social welfare.

The scholarship for children of deceased civil servants is aimed at supporting the education of those who lost their parents while in active service, ensuring they continue their academic journey without financial hindrances.

Meanwhile, the scheme for students with disabilities is designed to assist those who, despite their physical challenges, are pursuing an education to improve their socio-economic prospects.

Both scholarship programmes cover students in primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions across the state.

According to a statement issued by Dr. Godfrey Enita, Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, a total of 628 children from over 200 families of deceased civil servants and 60 students with disabilities will benefit from the 2023 scholarship scheme.

“As a driver of socio-economic development, education is a cornerstone of Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda, aimed at empowering dreams and building brighter futures,” Enita stated. “The Governor’s approval of these scholarships underscores his dedication to ensuring that every Delta State student, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to quality education.”

This move reflects the state government’s ongoing efforts to promote equal opportunities and reduce educational disparities, affirming Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to uplifting the vulnerable in society.
