Isoko South Chairman Urges Delta Councillors to Work in Unity, Live Within Their Means

OLEH/Nigeria: The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri, has called on elected councillors across Delta State’s 25 local government areas to work in harmony with their respective council chairmen with humility and loyalty for the collective progress of their councils.

Warri gave the charge on Wednesday in his office in Oleh while receiving leaders of the Delta State Councillors Forum on a courtesy visit. He emphasized the importance of synergy between the legislative and executive arms at the council level to ensure effective governance.

Expressing his appreciation for the visit, Warri assured the councillors of his continued support while advising them to manage their finances prudently. Drawing from his experience as a former councillor representing Okpolo-Enwhe Ward 09, he warned against extravagant lifestyles, stressing that public office holders must learn to “cut their cloth according to their size.”

“Councillors in the state who are fond of living a champagne lifestyle when their income can only afford a bottle of beer often struggle after leaving office. It is important to live within your means because there is always life after public office,” he cautioned.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the leader of the Delta State Councillors Forum, Samuel Ekpemupolo Idukedoumene, stated that their visit was part of efforts to build a strong working relationship between council chairmen and councillors across the state. He commended Warri for always carrying the Isoko South legislative arm along and prayed for wisdom and guidance in his leadership.
