ABUJA/Nigeria: The Executive Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Friday Ovoke Warri, has been honoured with the Outstanding Local Government Chairman Award by Rootswatch Magazine, in recognition of his exceptional delivery of democratic dividends and fulfillment of campaign promises.
The award ceremony, held Thursday at the National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, drew dignitaries including politicians, captains of industry, and council chairmen from across the country.
Speaking at the 23rd Merit Award and magazine launch, Editor-in-Chief of Rootswatch and National Coordinator of the awards, Bayode Ojo, described Warri as a shining example of effective local governance. “Within just a year in office, he has demonstrated strategic grassroots leadership and driven infrastructural development, earning the confidence of his people,” Ojo said.
Receiving the award, Warri credited the recognition to the people of Isoko South and the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. He described the honour as a call to greater service. “This award is a reminder that every act of leadership is watched and will be rewarded. We remain committed to transforming Isoko South socially, economically and politically within our tenure,” he stated.
Warri highlighted ongoing development projects, including the completion of the Ogbemudia bad spot, ongoing rehabilitation of the Irri-Oyede Road, agricultural initiatives like the pepper pilot project, and improvements in education, healthcare, and security.
Also honoured at the event were Jerry Ehiwarior, Chairman of Ika South LGA, and Festus Ashima, Chairman of Warri North LGA, alongside other top-performing local government chairmen across Nigeria.
