
ASABA/Nigeria: Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Chamberlain Nnamdi Dunkwu.
Dr. Dunkwu, who hailed from Ute-Okpu in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, reportedly passed away in the early hours of Saturday, March 7, 2026, without any prior signs of illness.
Guwor, who is also the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, condoled with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, over what he described as a tragic and shocking loss.
Speaking on behalf of the 36 State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, the Conference of Speakers Chairman said the sudden demise of Dr. Dunkwu was painful, noting that his dedication to duty, professionalism and contributions to legislative development would be remembered by all who had the opportunity to work with him.
The Delta Assembly Speaker also extended condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Ute-Okpu community, Ika North East Local Government Area and the entire Ika Federal Constituency, describing the late Dunkwu as a worthy ambassador of the Ika nation.
Guwor prayed that God would grant the bereaved family, friends and associates the strength to bear the painful loss, while also asking God to grant the departed soul eternal rest.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu, who hails from Ute-Okpu in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.
“On behalf of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria and the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, over the tragic death.
“My heartfelt condolences also go to the immediate family of the deceased, the Ute-Okpu community, his friends and associates. This is indeed a painful loss. May the soul of Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu rest in peace, and may the bereaved family find comfort in the Almighty God during this difficult time,” Guwor said.
