All Progressives Congress (APC)

ABUJA/Nigeria: The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted and released the list of members of its National Assembly Primary Election and Appeal Committees ahead of the commencement of the party’s primaries scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with the House of Representatives contests across the country.

The development has heightened political activities within the party, particularly among aspirants jostling for tickets into the Senate and House of Representatives for the 2027 general elections.

The committees, announced by the APC National Secretariat in Abuja and signed by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, His Excellency Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, OFR, are expected to oversee the conduct of the primaries and handle appeals arising from the exercises in various states of the federation.

For Delta State, the APC constituted a seven-member National Assembly Primary Election Committee headed by Barr. Eugene Odo as Chairman, while Barr. Musa Amagbor will serve as Secretary of the committee. Other members include Chief Benson Eze, Hon. Felix E. Okafor, Hon. Mrs. Maureen Anosike, Abimbola Samuel Dare and Noel Nimnan.

Similarly, the party named Dr. Chukwuemeka Ujam as Chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Appeal Committee for Delta State, with Rev. Hon. Chuhwudi Madueke serving as Secretary. Other members of the appeal committee are Hon. Linda N. Ibudialor, Hon. Binkur Nden and Maikano Mohammed.

The release of the committees is seen as a critical step toward the formal commencement of the APC’s internal electoral process as aspirants intensify consultations, mobilization and last-minute political alignments ahead of Saturday’s primaries.

Political observers believe the House of Representatives primaries, especially in politically sensitive constituencies such as Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Ethiope Federal Constituency, Warri Federal Constituency and others across Delta State, are expected to generate keen interest among party stakeholders and supporters.

The primaries are also expected to test the strength of emerging political blocs within the APC as aspirants battle for the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 polls.

Party faithful have meanwhile expressed optimism that the constituted committees will ensure transparency, fairness and credibility throughout the exercise in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

Across the country, similar committees were constituted for states including Rivers, Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Ondo, Plateau, Enugu and others, underscoring the party’s nationwide preparations for the crucial nomination process.

With political tensions already rising in many constituencies, attention is now firmly fixed on Saturday, May 16, when the House of Representatives primaries officially begin, setting the stage for what many analysts describe as the first major political showdown ahead of the 2027 general elections.
