OZORO/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Monday urged the people of Isoko Nation to reward his administration’s development strides by delivering overwhelming votes for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the appeal during an inspection tour of key completed and ongoing projects in Isoko North Local Government Area, including the College of Health Technology, Ovrode, and the Ozoro Modern Market, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equitable development across Delta State.
Addressing residents during the inspection, Oborevwori said the visible investments in roads, education, healthcare and other critical infrastructure across Isoko Nation reflected his administration’s resolve to ensure balanced development in all parts of the state under the M.O.R.E. Agenda.
According to him, the level of projects executed in the area deserved corresponding political support from the people.
“What the Isoko people owe us is that in 2027, they should deliver all our candidates. We have done roads here, we have invested in health and education, and our footprints are visible across the state. We are working in all 25 local government areas and the three senatorial districts,” the governor stated.
Oborevwori reiterated his administration’s quality assurance policy, explaining that he personally inspects projects before commissioning them to ensure contractors deliver work that meets government specifications.
He noted that while the College of Health Technology project was nearing completion and had attained a high standard, a few finishing touches still required attention before the facility could be formally inaugurated.
“Before I commission any project, I always carry out an inspection to assess the quality of work and ascertain whether it is satisfactory and ready for commissioning. Having inspected this project, I can say the work is impressive, though it is not yet 100 per cent complete.
“There are one or two areas that still require correction before commissioning. Some minor adjustments need to be made, particularly in the landscaping and a few finishing touches. Once these corrections are made, the project will be ready for inauguration,” he said.
The governor described the College of Health Technology as one of the state’s strategic investments in the health sector, revealing that government deliberately complemented the institution with a newly constructed access road to improve accessibility and maximise its impact.
“When we approved this project, we also decided that it deserved a good access road. Today, the road has been completed, and when we commission the college, we will commission the road as well,” he added.
Speaking after inspecting the Ozoro Modern Market, Oborevwori expressed satisfaction with the quality of work, declaring the facility ready for official inauguration.
“We earlier visited the Ozoro Modern Market, and I am impressed with what I saw. The project has been completed for several months and is ready for commissioning.
“We are not concentrating only on roads. We are making huge investments in education, healthcare and other critical sectors. We don’t spend time publicising every project on social media. When people visit these places, they see the massive work we are doing. Many people don’t even know projects like this market, the College of Health Technology and the Irri Technical College exist,” he said.
The governor further recalled that his administration had executed significant infrastructural projects at Southern Delta University, Ozoro, stressing that development was taking place simultaneously across the state’s three senatorial districts as part of his government’s agenda for inclusive growth.
Earlier, the contractor handling the Ozoro Modern Market project, Chief Iduh Amadhe, disclosed that the ultra-modern market had been completed since last year and was awaiting commissioning by the state government.
He explained that the facility comprises 192 open stalls, 28 lock-up shops, eight warehouses, 16 modern toilet facilities, a functional water supply system, four fire points, meeting halls for market executives, administrative offices, offices for labour unions and two security posts.
Amadhe, however, raised concerns over repeated vandalism at the market complex, revealing that the contractor had expended about N3.2 million on repairs following three separate incidents of destruction.
He appealed to the state government to provide adequate security around the facility to protect the investment and ensure the market effectively serves traders and residents after it is commissioned.
