ASABA/Nigeria: In a move aimed at strengthening human capital development, Senator Ned Nwoko has announced the commencement of a free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration drive for 1,500 eligible students across Delta North Senatorial District ahead of the 2026 academic year.
The initiative is targeted at students from the nine local government areas that make up Delta North—Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Oshimili North, Oshimili South and Ukwuani—and is designed to expand access to tertiary education while easing the financial burden on families.
In a statement released on Monday, Senator Nwoko described education as the foundation of sustainable development, stressing that no qualified student should be denied the opportunity to pursue higher education due to financial constraints.
“Education is the foundation upon which lasting development is built. This initiative is part of my commitment to supporting young people and ensuring equal access to learning opportunities,” he said.
According to the senator, beneficiaries must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, and are required to generate their JAMB Profile Code using their National Identification Number (NIN). Applicants are also expected to provide their full name, profile code and council ward for proper documentation and verification.
The registration exercise, he said, will remain open until Sunday, February 15, 2026, and interested candidates are to apply through the designated online portal.
Senator Nwoko reaffirmed his commitment to policies and programmes that empower youths and enhance the social and economic future of Delta North, noting that sustained investment in education remains critical to building a resilient and prosperous society.
“This programme reflects our resolve to invest in the next generation and strengthen the future of our communities,” he added.
The free JAMB UTME registration drive is expected to encourage wider participation in higher education across the district and provide lasting benefits for students and their families.
