CP Abaniwonda Assures Continued Security Vigilance in Delta State

ASABA/Nigeria: Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Mr. Olufemi Abaniwonda, has reiterated his commitment to combating security breaches and ensuring the safety of residents. Speaking on Voice of Delta Radio 97.9 FM’s Orientation Panorama, Abaniwonda affirmed that his officers would respond swiftly to distress calls and protect life and property in the state.

Abaniwonda praised Delta as one of Nigeria’s safest states and commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting the command’s operations. He addressed concerns regarding misinformation on social media, emphasizing that some influencers were fabricating security threats, which misrepresented the state’s actual situation.

Under Abaniwonda’s leadership, kidnapped victims have been rescued, and significant progress has been made in combating crime. He acknowledged recent kidnapping incidents in Ika Land and the killing of a vigilante member, stating that the police, alongside stakeholders and vigilante groups, are working to restore peace in affected areas.

Despite challenges, including false alarms and fake news, Abaniwonda assured the public of the police’s commitment to maintaining peace. He urged citizens to report suspicious activities promptly, emphasizing the importance of community collaboration in ensuring security.

“Delta is secured and very peaceful,” Abaniwonda declared, highlighting the significant reduction in kidnapping cases. He affirmed the police’s dedication to securing the state and encouraged residents to go about their activities without fear.

The commissioner concluded by affirming the Delta State Police Command’s commitment to ensuring residents can “sleep with their eyes firmly closed.”
