MOSOGAR/Nigeria: Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ighoyota Amori, at his Mosogar country home, where both leaders stressed the need for collaboration and cohesion among the Urhobo political class.
The meeting, attended by key stakeholders including Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Area, Pastor Chris Onogba, APC chieftain Olorogun Adelabu Bodjor, Engr. Abraham Bobor, and other political actors, brought together members of the Amori political family, Dafinone’s team and prominent leaders, reinforcing the call for unity as a foundation for sustainable development in Delta State and the Urhobo nation.
The visit is seen as significant given the political history between both leaders, who were on opposing sides during the build-up to the 2023 general elections, when Dafinone contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC) while Amori was aligned with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking after the meeting, Dafinone described Amori as a “respected senior brother” and a key figure in the political evolution of Delta State, noting that his contributions are deeply appreciated by those within the system. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged Amori’s long-standing sacrifices in shaping the state’s political landscape.
In his remarks, Amori commended Dafinone’s performance in office, stating that he has not been disappointed in his representation of Delta Central. He emphasised that politics should not be driven by bitterness, pointing out that their relationship remained cordial despite belonging to different political parties during the 2023 elections.
Amori further urged Urhobo sons and daughters to prioritise unity over political differences, describing divisions within the political class as often rooted in personal interests rather than collective progress. He called for a shared commitment to advancing the development of the Urhobo nation and Delta State at large.
The meeting underscored a broader message of reconciliation, highlighting that mutual respect, cooperation and a shared vision are essential to political stability and meaningful development, irrespective of party affiliations.
