AGBOR/Nigeria: The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, has continued his familiarisation tour of police formations and key stakeholders across Delta State Police Command, as part of sustained efforts to strengthen operational coordination and deepen community partnership in policing.
In a statement signed by Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer, the tour commenced on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with a visit to the Ogwashi Area Command, where the Commissioner engaged officers, men and critical stakeholders, underscoring the command’s resolve to promote effective, intelligence-driven and people-focused policing.
The familiarisation exercise continued on Thursday, January 29, 2026, with a visit to the Agbor Area Command, where CP Adesola met with personnel and community stakeholders, reinforcing the leadership’s commitment to collaborative security management and improved service delivery.
As part of the visit to the Agbor axis, the Commissioner paid courtesy calls on prominent traditional rulers, including Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagborekuzi I, the Dein of Agbor; Emmanuel Efeizomor II, the Obi of Owa Kingdom; and the Obi of Umunede.
Speaking during the interaction, the Dein of Agbor described the Nigeria Police Force as the “lifeboat of the nation,” stressing the need for unity, mutual respect and collective responsibility in safeguarding lives and property. He highlighted challenges bordering on police welfare and logistics, calling for improved support to enable officers to perform optimally. The monarch also expressed concern over the rising menace of drug abuse within the Agbor community, identifying it as a major security threat, and urged sustained collaboration between the Police and residents to address the problem. He further cautioned members of the public against provoking officers lawfully discharging their duties, noting the split-second decisions often required of armed personnel in volatile situations.
In his remarks, the Obi of Owa Kingdom emphasised that security is a shared responsibility, adding that meaningful community development largely depends on collective action by the people. He noted that unity among residents remains critical to tackling drug-related crimes and other security challenges confronting the area.
Responding, CP Adesola stated that his policing philosophy is anchored on close engagement with the people, noting that community members possess vital knowledge of their environment and social dynamics, which is indispensable to effective crime prevention and sustainable security outcomes. He reaffirmed the Delta State Command’s commitment to inclusive, proactive and community-oriented policing, while calling on residents to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to enhance public safety across the state.
