ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has launched a digital platform to automate the administration of outdoor advertising, a move aimed at improving revenue collection, eliminating leakages and strengthening transparency in the operations of the Delta State Signage and Advertisement Agency (DESSAA).

The Smart Advertising Management Platform, unveiled on Thursday in Asaba, is expected to replace manual processes with an electronic system that allows advertisers and practitioners to access the agency’s services and make payments online.

Speaking at the unveiling, Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, said the initiative forms part of the administration’s drive to deploy technology in improving public service delivery and promoting accountability in government revenue management.

He said the digital platform would simplify the regulation of outdoor advertising while enhancing transparency and operational efficiency, stressing that the state government would not tolerate fraudulent practices capable of undermining the system.

The governor described DESSAA as one of the state’s strategic revenue-generating agencies and urged advertisers, advertising practitioners and other stakeholders to comply with the agency’s regulations by making prompt and accurate payments through the platform.

Oborevwori added that the state government would continue to collaborate with local government councils to strengthen internally generated revenue and improve the administration of signage and outdoor advertising across Delta State.

Managing Director of DESSAA, Hon. Sebastien Okoh, said the platform enables advertisers and practitioners to access the agency’s services electronically from any location, reducing the need for physical visits to its offices.

According to him, the cashless system is designed to block revenue leakages, eliminate sharp practices and ensure that all payments due to the government are transparently captured and properly accounted for.

Stakeholders at the unveiling expressed optimism that the initiative would improve regulatory efficiency, simplify compliance for advertisers and further advance the state’s digital transformation agenda.
