OBIARUKU/Nigeria: In a renewed effort to reposition and strengthen its structures across the state, the Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of Prof. Sylvester Monye, has inaugurated Local Government Area caretaker committees in the 25 councils of the state.
As part of the exercise, top party leaders from the state were delegated to Ukwuani Local Government Area on February 24, 2026, to formally inaugurate the PDP Caretaker Committee for the council.
At the event, Dr. Eze Christian Edike emerged as Chairman of the Ukwuani LGA Caretaker Committee, with Mr. Ojeje Jonah named Vice Chairman and Hon. Onyuku Karios as Secretary. Other members of the committee include Madam Maria Chukwuma as Woman Leader; Hon. Christopher Enyashi as Youth Leader; Mr. Omaha Chukwuma Joel as Treasurer; Mr. Otadozi Ugochukwu as Financial Secretary; Pastor Morrison Ochonogor as Public Relations Officer; Mrs. Rose Enudi as Auditor; and Comrade Edike Kingsley Eluemunor as Legal Adviser.
Also inaugurated as ex-officio members were Mr. Okwuchukwu Chukwujindu, Mrs. Ojibi Queen, Mr. Onyenike Thompson, Mr. Ogodu Clement and Mrs. Opute Magdalene.
Following the formal announcement of the committee members, oath forms were administered and handed over to them. The newly appointed executives swore to uphold the Constitution of the party and that of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, pledging to discharge their duties faithfully, without bias or prejudice.
In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Dr. Edike, expressed appreciation to the state leadership of the party for the confidence reposed in him and his team. He assured that the caretaker committee would work within the ambit of the party’s constitution to rebuild and reposition the PDP in Ukwuani.
“We will do everything within our constitutional powers to ensure that the PDP regains its footing in Ukwuani Local Government Area and stands strong as a formidable opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress,” he said.
Shortly after the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Edike convened a meeting of the new executive to chart a course for the immediate swearing-in of ward executives across the local government.
The committee fixed March 7, 2026, for the inauguration of ward leadership in a centralised ceremony, a move party leaders say is aimed at fast-tracking grassroots mobilisation and restoring the PDP’s organisational strength in the area.
Wow, this is great and commendable
