ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant operational breakthroughs in its ongoing crackdown on violent crime, with the arrest of a suspected armed robber and the recovery of illegal firearms in separate operations across the state.
The developments were confirmed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who outlined the Command’s recent successes in intelligence-driven and rapid-response policing.
According to the statement, one Emmanuel Solomon, 38, was apprehended on March 9, 2026, at about 5:00 a.m. following a distress call reporting an attempted armed robbery at a private residence in Egbokodo Itsekiri Community in Warri.
Police operatives attached to ‘A’ Division, Warri, were said to have swiftly mobilised to the scene, working in close collaboration with members of the community to cordon off the area and prevent the suspect’s escape.
A subsequent search of the premises and surrounding environment led to the recovery of a bag containing two double-barrel cut-to-size guns and five live cartridges, believed to be intended for use in the foiled robbery operation.
The suspect is currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal network.
In a separate operation on March 25, 2026, at about 1:00 p.m., operatives of the Command’s Raiders Squad intercepted one Aminu Inusa, 23, during a stop-and-search exercise along the Benin–Asaba Expressway near Custom Market in Oshimili North Local Government Area.
The operation, which was based on credible intelligence, led to the discovery of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol concealed on the suspect. He has since been taken into custody, with further investigations underway.
The Police Command commended the professionalism, vigilance, and swift response of its operatives, noting that the successes underscore its renewed commitment to proactive policing and crime prevention across Delta State.
The Command also called on residents to sustain their support by providing timely and credible information to security agencies, assuring that all intelligence received would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Reaffirming its resolve, the Command stated that it remains fully committed to flushing out criminal elements and ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout the state.
