
WARRI/Nigeria: Several people-oriented projects facilitated by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, across Warri South West Constituency are progressing at various stages of completion, underscoring ongoing efforts to deepen grassroots development.
Rt. Hon. Guwor, who represents the constituency, undertook an inspection tour of selected project sites over the weekend to ascertain the level of work done and ensure timely delivery.
The projects, spanning key sectors such as education, healthcare, road infrastructure and social services, are distributed across the ten wards of the constituency, reflecting a broad-based development approach.
Among the projects inspected were classroom blocks at Raymond Primary School, Costain; the Ugborodo modern market; Ogidigben Road; Ogidigben Hospital; Madangho community road; Oporoza school; Battan school renovation; Naifor Island School; as well as solar-powered street lighting projects in various communities.
Other ongoing projects include a housing unit at Akpakpa; Oporoza Town Hall; renovation of a six-classroom block at Bisobo Primary School, Pina Zion; a concrete landing jetty at Opuedebubor; a housing project at Kantu; Oporoza Market; Kantu Road; Ijaghalla Road; and the Okerenkoko–Pepeama–Kokodiagbene Road in Okerenkoko.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker, who also chairs the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, said the projects were deliberately targeted at improving the living conditions of residents in riverine communities.
He reiterated the strategic commitment of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration to bridging infrastructural deficits and enhancing livelihoods in rural and underserved areas of the state.
Guwor assured constituents that the ongoing interventions would lay a sustainable foundation for long-term socio-economic development in Warri South West, while urging residents to safeguard public infrastructure from vandalism.
He noted that protecting government projects would not only preserve existing investments but also encourage the attraction of more developmental initiatives to the area.
The Speaker expressed appreciation to the people for their continued support, assuring them of more dividends of democracy.
Residents, in their response, commended Governor Oborevwori and Rt. Hon. Guwor for facilitating impactful projects across their communities, describing the interventions as timely and beneficial.
They pledged continued support and prayers for the leadership of the state, while also drawing attention to lingering challenges, particularly the shortage of teachers in public schools, and appealed for urgent government intervention.
