The South-South Regional Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Lynda Ezike, has said that aerodrome certification by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will significantly boost investor confidence at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

Ezike made the assertion on Monday in Port Harcourt while responding to questions from journalists, noting that the certification has strategically positioned the airport for global recognition and enhanced ease of doing business.

She said the certification affirms that the Omagwa airport meets all international benchmarks in infrastructure, operational procedures and safety management systems, describing it as a major milestone for the facility and Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The FAAN regional manager, who also oversees the airport and was named Best Regional Manager of the Year 2025, reaffirmed management’s commitment to leveraging the certification to deliver improved services to airlines, passengers and other airport users.

“We will continue to uphold all operational policies in the aviation sector,” Ezike said, stressing that safety, efficiency and service excellence would remain the guiding principles of airport operations.

She disclosed that the NCAA recently issued aerodrome certificates to both Kano and Port Harcourt international airports as part of efforts to institutionalise global standards across Nigeria’s airport network.

According to her, the certification formally presented on December 19, 2025, followed a strict and rigorous regulatory process jointly conducted by the NCAA and FAAN, involving detailed inspections and compliance assessments.

Ezike commended the exercise, noting that it would strengthen confidence among investors, airline operators and passengers, while also underscoring the value of inter-agency collaboration in advancing safety and operational excellence in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
