Ndokwa Should share from the EPZ Project-Okolocha

By Emmanuel Enebeli

A call had gone to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC), the Delta State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria to include the Ndokwa nation in the Delta Gas City Project.
The call was made recently by Dr Eugene Okolocha, the All Progress Congress (APC), candidate for the March 28, 2015 Federal House of Representatives election, for Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, during a media debate for all House of Representatives candidates, held at Travellers Café, Kwale, Ndokwa West, LGA.
The event which was organised by an Ndokwa Pressure Group, Ndokwa Arise, in collaboration with Ndokwa Reporters Newspaper, was for the various candidates for the federal constituency to formally present their manifestoes to the people of Ndokwa during the debate, and how they intend to achieve their plans for the people if voted as the people’s representatives.
Dr Okolocha, who was the only candidate that attended the interactive session, spoke on various areas, as lack of proper representation is affecting development in Ndokwa land, which according to him is a clear negligence of the Ndokwa people citing the Export Processing Zone project as one of those cases.
Speaking on the subject, which he called “matter of Urgent National Attention”, he said if there is proper representation, the people of Ndokwa Federal Constituency, which produces and hosts the largest gas plant in sub Saharan Africa, will not be deprived the social and economic benefit of such project.
Continuing, he pointed out that the people of the area where the source of the raw materials for the project, were supposed to be taken into consideration during the planning for the project, but rather “they were pushed to the back ground, and those who have no gas in there domain are fighting over who should host the EPZ”. He concluded.
Dr Okolocha in concluding called on the relevant authorities, and the entire Ndokwa nation to stand up and demand for their rights, to be included in the project.
