
OKPAI OLUCHI/Nigeria: The family of Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, Member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, has commenced the final burial rites of his late mother, Mrs Janet Ezechi (Ileoge-Ekwuofu), née Uzor, who died at the age of 98.
The funeral activities commenced with a Service of Songs held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in Asaba, at the residence of Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, No. 6 James Ezechi Avenue.
Mrs Ezechi, who was the mother of Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, was described by the family as a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and in-law.
The Service of Songs in Asaba was attended by family members, friends, associates and well-wishers who gathered to honour the memory of the deceased and offer their condolences to the Ezechi family.
The funeral rites will culminate in Okpai Oluchi, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
According to the burial programme, the body of the deceased will leave Asaba Specialist Hospital at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday for Mixed Secondary School, Okpai Oluchi, where the funeral service and other burial activities will be held.
The programme also indicates that entertainment of guests will follow at the Mixed Secondary School, Okpai Oluchi, from 12 noon, while the interment will take place at the residence of Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi in Okpai Oluchi.
The burial brings to a close the funeral rites for Mrs Ezechi, who lived for 98 years and left behind children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other members of her extended family.
For Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi and the rest of the family, the occasion provides an opportunity to give their mother a dignified final farewell and celebrate the life she lived and the legacy she left behind.
Family members have invited relatives, friends, associates and well-wishers to join them in the final rites and celebration of the life of their beloved matriarch.
Mrs Janet Ezechi was born in 1928 and died in 2026 at the age of 98.
