KWALE/Nigeria: The leadership of the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU) has intensified consultations with traditional rulers across Ndokwa Nation as part of activities marking the first anniversary of its current National Executive Council, holding a strategic meeting with monarchs at Ndokwa House on February 17, 2026.

The delegation, led by President General Comrade Chief Amechi Asugwuni, briefed the royal fathers on the council’s one-year stewardship and sought their guidance on addressing key socio-economic and developmental challenges confronting Ndokwa communities.

Discussions at the meeting centred on strengthening Ndokwa unity, sustaining cordial relations with the Delta State Government, and reinforcing the authority of traditional institutions. Asugwuni emphasised that collective progress would only be possible if Ndokwa people remain united, urging the monarchs to preserve the sanctity of their stools as custodians of culture and tradition, a move he said would elevate the respect accorded to Ndokwa institutions both within government circles and among other ethnic nationalities.

He also informed the royal fathers of ongoing efforts by the NNU leadership to deepen engagement with the state government in pursuit of development priorities, noting that a planned courtesy visit to Sheriff Oborevwori would further strengthen collaboration for the benefit of Ndokwa Nation. According to him, the union has already written to the governor seeking support for the realisation of the Okpai Independent Power Project step-down for Ndokwa communities as well as a review of oil production quantum affecting the area.

In their responses, the monarchs commended the NNU leadership for initiating dialogue and assured the union of their continued support, describing the engagement as timely and necessary for collective advancement.

The meeting also resolved that the people should consistently be identified as the Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality and that the designation should be reflected at the federal level as Ndokwa Federal Constituency, a move participants said would reinforce unity and shared identity.

Asugwuni concluded the session with prayers for the traditional rulers, wishing them wisdom and success in their reigns.

Among royal fathers present were the Obi of Aboh Kingdom, the Igwete of Amai Kingdom, the Ebu of Umuebu Kingdom, the Oduosa of Utagba-Ogbe Kingdom, the Igwe of Abala Kingdom, the Odiologbo of Ibrede Kingdom, the Eze of Emu Kingdom, the Odiologbo of Onogbokor Kingdom, the Agadagba of Adia Obiaka Kingdom, the Uzu of Igbuku Kingdom and the Oghene of Ibedeni Kingdom.
