LAGOS/Nigeria: The ninth edition of the Nigerian Student Fashion & Design Week (NSFDW) ended on December 20, 2025, at GAC Motors, Victoria Island, Lagos, reinforcing its reputation as Africa’s foremost launchpad for emerging fashion designers.

Held at the height of Lagos’ creative season, NSFDW 2025 drew industry leaders, stylists and fashion enthusiasts who gathered to experience the next wave of African fashion innovation. Sixteen student designers took to the runway, unveiling collections that spanned heritage-inspired couture, contemporary tailoring and bold, experimental streetwear.

The high point of the three-day showcase was the announcement of Estazwere as the Most Creative Designer and Konvetti as the Viewers’ Choice Designer. Both winners received a cash prize of ₦1 million each, alongside fully sponsored showcases at New York Fashion Week and Dallas Fashion Week in 2026. The Most Creative Designer category was judged by Josh Amor, Kola Kuddus and Rhoda Ebun.

Beyond the runway, the 2025 edition reaffirmed NSFDW’s commitment to capacity building through a robust workshop series designed to prepare young creatives for the realities of the fashion business. Industry experts including Sheye Oladejo, Damilola Ademilokun, Fiyin Ogunlesi, Samuel Ekpemede, Bernice Ofunre Asein, Sonaon Cadmus and Rhoda Aguonigho delivered sessions on sustainability, brand positioning, fashion law and financial structuring for growth.

Reflecting on the platform’s evolving impact, NSFDW Founder Abiola Orimolade described the event as more than a fashion week. “NSFDW is an ecosystem that discovers, nurtures and showcases Nigeria’s next generation of talent,” she said. “We are not just putting clothes on a runway; we are equipping designers with the tools and global exposure needed to shape the future of the creative economy.”

The event also honoured long-standing partners and industry figures who have supported the platform since its inception. Those recognised included Sola Oyebade, Dr. Akin Faminu, Pamilerin Adegoke, Kola Kuddus, Sola Babatunde, Ejiro Amos Tafiri and Chris Oputa.

With its alumni already showcasing on international platforms such as Dallas Fashion Week, NSFDW continues to serve as a critical bridge between local talent and the global fashion industry. The ninth edition once again underscored its standing as Africa’s most influential fashion incubator, affirming that for Nigeria’s next generation of designers, the runway now extends to the world.
