SAPELE/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday joined a distinguished gathering of clerics, political leaders, traditional rulers, and worshippers to celebrate the 50th birth anniversary of Archbishop Godday Iboyi, General Overseer of Promised Kingdom Ministries, Overflow Chapel Worldwide, in Sapele.

The thanksgiving service, held at the Cathedral of Overflow Chapel in Okuovwori-Amuokpe, Sapele, attracted a large congregation, marking a significant milestone in the cleric’s life and ministry, as tributes poured in honour of his spiritual impact and years of service.

Speaking during the event, Governor Oborevwori expressed deep appreciation to Archbishop Iboyi, describing him as a devoted servant of God and a brother whose leadership has positively influenced many lives.

Reflecting on the essence of leadership, the governor emphasised that true leadership is anchored on humility rather than position.

“Many hold positions of authority, but position alone does not define leadership. True leadership comes with humility. If you desire a position, begin with humility,” he said, cautioning against the dangers of pride.

Oborevwori further underscored the need for adaptability in governance, noting that evolving times demand fresh approaches and sound judgment. He urged leaders to remain committed to doing what is right while embracing wisdom in decision-making.

Quoting from the First Epistle to the Thessalonians 5:16–18, the governor encouraged a lifestyle of gratitude, prayer, and faith, describing the occasion as a moment of thanksgiving and reflection on God’s enduring grace.

He also called on the celebrant and the congregation to remain steadfast in their service to God and humanity, urging them to continually commit their endeavours into God’s hands for direction and success.

On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, Oborevwori congratulated Archbishop Iboyi on his golden jubilee, offering prayers for greater fulfilment and many more impactful years.

Earlier in his exhortation, the Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Delta State Chapter, Bishop Abos Willie, charged the congregation to live purposeful and disciplined lives rooted in faith.

Drawing from scripture, he reminded worshippers of the importance of remembering their origins and maintaining obedience to God, stressing that life presents opportunities for reflection, correction, and alignment with divine purpose.

The service featured fervent prayers, worship, and thanksgiving, underscoring the significance of the celebration.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a birthday card to Archbishop Iboyi by Governor Oborevwori.

Dignitaries at the event included Senator Ede Dafinone; top government functionaries; the Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council and Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Maj. Gen. Felix Mujakperuo; the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Sideso; renowned cleric Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor; as well as Archbishops Goddowell Avwomakpa and Solomon Gbakara, among others.
