ASABA/Nigeria: The Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has hailed Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s appearance at the 2nd Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders’ Meeting as a historic reunion capable of strengthening unity and internal cohesion within the party.
The stakeholders’ meeting, held on January 23, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Asaba, was greeted with excitement as party leaders and delegates watched the arrival of the former Deputy President of the Senate, whose months of silence had followed the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the entire Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in the state to the APC in April 2025.
Observers had widely interpreted Omo-Agege’s silence as uncertainty over the new political alignment in Delta State. However, early signs of reconciliation had emerged when both leaders met at a marriage ceremony in the state, where Omo-Agege publicly acknowledged Governor Oborevwori as leader of the APC in Delta, a gesture many described as symbolic and reassuring.
That reconciliation was firmly sealed at the stakeholders’ meeting when Omo-Agege mounted the podium and declared his readiness to work with the governor to advance the development of Delta State, a statement that drew prolonged applause and signalled renewed confidence among party faithful.
Reacting to the development, Oghenesivbe congratulated the Delta APC family on what he described as a historic reunion between two of the state’s most influential political leaders.
According to him, the decision by Governor Oborevwori and Senator Omo-Agege to close ranks reflected political maturity, statesmanship and a shared commitment to the progress of Delta State above personal or partisan considerations.
He noted that the reunion reinforced the timeless principle that there are no permanent enemies in politics, only permanent interests, and emphasised that unity within the APC was crucial for delivering good governance and sustainable development to the people of the state.
Oghenesivbe expressed optimism that the renewed partnership would strengthen internal cohesion within the party and position the APC to more effectively drive policies and programmes that would benefit all Deltans.
He concluded by commending party leaders and stakeholders for embracing reconciliation and urged members of the Delta APC to remain united in support of Governor Oborevwori’s administration and the collective vision of building a more prosperous Delta State.
