
ASABA/Nigeria: The All Progressives Congress in Delta State has reaffirmed its organisational strength after conducting peaceful Local Government Area congresses across the state, producing new executives through consensus.
The statewide exercise witnessed strong attendance and was supervised by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security operatives and media observers, a development party officials said demonstrated transparency and internal unity.
Members of the party’s national committee assigned to Delta were earlier received at the state secretariat in Asaba by the state chairman, Omeni Sobotie, who commended the team for successfully conducting the ward congresses and urged them to strictly adhere to party guidelines while overseeing the LGA exercises.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, its secretary, Simon Atigwe, assured members that the objective was to ensure a transparent and inclusive process capable of strengthening unity and internal harmony within the party. Addressing journalists after monitoring activities across the three senatorial districts, he expressed satisfaction with participation levels and the orderly conduct of members, describing Delta as a special state for the party because of the peaceful atmosphere and adequate security arrangements observed.
In Oshimili South, council chairman Kelvin Ezenyili described the congress as rancour-free, noting that executives emerged through sincere consensus and affirmation. Similar sentiments were echoed in Oshimili North at Akwukwu-Igbo, where leaders including Frank Esenwa, Innocent Esewezie, Patrick Ukah and Olisa Ifeajika praised the peaceful conduct and impressive turnout, describing it as an endorsement of the consensus arrangement.
In Uvwie Local Government Area, Sylvester Oghenewede emerged chairman and pledged to foster unity and strengthen the party’s structure, while outgoing chairman Wilfred Emeleji congratulated the new executive and assured them of his support. Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo commended members for the successful congress and urged them to intensify mobilisation efforts toward the reelection of Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in 2027.
In Isoko North, Sunday Omonakome emerged chairman alongside other executives at the congress held in Ozoro. Council chairman Godwin Ogorugba and lawmaker Bernard Odior commended the peaceful conduct and urged members to sustain unity. In Isoko South, Victor Ekelega was affirmed chairman at the Oleh Township Stadium congress, with stakeholders including Johnson Erijo, Bino Obowomano and Warri Ovoke Friday commending the peaceful process and pledging collective support for future electoral success.
Ughelli North delegates elected Lucky Ofomukoro at the congress held at Oharisi Primary School, where party leader Otega Emerhor and council chairman Jaro Egbo assured members of strong mobilisation ahead of future elections. In Ughelli South, a new executive led by Ojay Edirin Ojigho emerged through consensus at Otu-Jeremi, with John Oguma praising stakeholders for the orderly conduct.
In Ika North-East, Emeka Asiwe was elected chairman following a consensus process in line with party guidelines. Leaders including former governor Ifeanyi Okowa and commissioner Charles Aniagwu commended the transparent and inclusive nature of the exercise. In Ethiope West, Clement Okorodide emerged chairman at Ovade-Oghara, where prominent figures including Ighoyota Amori, Ben Igbakpa, John Nani and Halims Agoda described the congress as peaceful, orderly and reflective of unity.
In Ethiope East, Midwest Iboyitete emerged chairman at the Government Pavilion in Isiokolo, with leaders including Deputy Speaker Arthur Akpowowo, Bernard Edewor, Ben Edoja, Akpodiogaga Emeyese, Felix Erhimedafe and Faith Majemite expressing confidence that the party’s renewed cohesion would translate into stronger electoral performance.
With executives now in place across all 25 local government areas, stakeholders say the outcome underscores growing unity within the APC in Delta State and positions the party for competitive outings in future elections.
