The shift in date for the governorship elections have been described as opportunity for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the governorship seat in Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to consolidate and increase his support base, theSecretary to the Medical Committee of the campaign organization in the state, Dr. (Pharm.) Nelson Ejakpovi has said.
According to Dr. Ejakpovi, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had good grounds to shift the dates for the general elections and stated that Senator Okowa is a popular candidate who would carry everybody in the state along when he emerges as Governor.
He emphasized that “the shift in date was a blessing in disguise as it would enable Senator Okowa to consolidate his support base and also, woo the few persons who are yet to key in into prosperity for all Deltans project”.
“You see, Senator Okowa is loved by all Deltans, the shift in date will not affect his chance of victory it has only made it such, that PDP will get one hundred per cent victory in the state,” Dr Ejakpovi said.
He reiterated that the campaign committee has not relaxed but, having toured all the local government areas of the state, the campaign has become such that “every Deltan is campaigning for our man, Dr Okowa, there are many campaign groups and we have no fear of any kind, we are waiting for the inauguration of a new Government which Senator Okowa will head from May 29, 2015.”
The grassroots politician thanked God for a hitch-free campaign, noting that despite the preparations for the campaign by the Medical Committee which had more than six state of the art ambulances on standby during the campaigns, it was God that deserves the glory.
“We were prepared for the rallies, the ambulances were like well equipped hospitals and the medical personnels were the best you could find in any part of the world people volunteered, Doctors took leave to enable them participate in the campaigns, we are still working, but, we give thanks to God for making it possible for us not to have serious health challenges despite the mammoth crowd witnessed at the campaign grounds,” he added.
